  1. Welcome Nick! Yes, all Honda S2000's are in CS for the Street Category, then SST for the Street Touring category (this was a recent change from STR) if the car has modifications such as coilovers. If you have any modifications whatsoever it can bump you out of the Street category, so be sure check the rules or ask here for clarification if your car has anything done to it. Autocross rules are quite different than the GCR, which is for Club Racing (wheel-to-wheel track racing). Click the link below for the SCCA Solo (autocross) rules page, once there click on the 2021 Solo Rules Download (the 2022 rules will be updated very soon, but the 2021 rules will answer most questions). Easiest way to find the autocross related content is go to scca.com, then select autocross on the "programs" drop-down menu. https://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules
  2. With an average track width of 61.1" and a height of 71" the Crosstrek unfortunately is not allowed to run SCCA autocross events due to rollover potential. See section 3.1.A of the solo rules for more info. https://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules
  3. Bridgestone discontinued the RE-71R in late 2019, and unfortunately the replacement in Japan is not as quick so therefor Bridgestone of America decided not to bring the replacement to the US. Once that decision was made they ramped up production of the 71R in Japan prior to switching all the tooling and sent pretty much ALL of them to the US. Tire Rack got most of the supply, but since they are the largest retailer and sell the most tires their stock is currently lower. However I've heard they are getting more stock of some popular sizes soon...not sure if they are buying up inventory from other retailers or not, but I can assure you Bridgestone is no longer making the tire. So, just know if you buy RE-71R's they will have 2018-2019 build dates on them, meaning they've been sitting in a warehouse quite a while. However, my testing says even older tires that are still new perform quite well. Most tests say the newer tires (Falken/Yokohama) are quicker than the RE-71R, but the Bridgestone is hard to beat for all around performance, durability, and feel.
  4. The current format certainly keeps events efficient, however assuming the worst is behind us with Covid do you want to continue turning members away? I come from a very large region where entries were anywhere from 150-200 pretty regularly, and we always finished by 4-5 PM while sill allowing 4-5 runs. In fact we used a similar format of AM-PM groups so that you didn't need to commit to a full day. I'm not sure how many people are getting waitlisted in the current format, but it seems like not more than 20 or so...so even with 150 entrants I don't see why we couldn't offer the same 4-runs we get now. One of the negatives of the Covid-modified structure is not allowing afternoon entrants on site before noon, this potentially pushes back the afternoon start time. If you set up registration at a different location from the timing area, folks running in the afternoon could arrive by say 11:00 and be teched and registered so that they could do course walks immediately after the AM groups end and start back up sooner. Just some thoughts, but I personally feel limiting entries to 100 and turning people away is not ideal.
  5. Since I'm new here to the AZ region, are forum posts such as this the only way to know when registration will open for an event? The main website is very dated and the official schedule shows 2020 events still. I thought I heard someone say registration always opens the Friday a week before the event, but it appears I heard wrong...unless it changes sometimes? Just trying to get an idea on how to put registration dates into my calendar so I don't miss out on events due to the reduced capacity. Speaking of reduced capacity, any word on when restrictions will lift? I work in the car business and one of the auctions here in town has been allowing people in person to bid for over a month now...600-800 people show up and are indoors each week (masked up of course). Also I know the Coyotes are allowing like 3500 fans to games, so seems like big events are slowly getting back to normal. Thanks in advance, hope to see you all out there in a couple weeks.
