The new concept recently started of having corner captains is a good start.  For safety sake and scoring effectiveness, I think each corner captain should give a 2 minute run-down to their workers each time a group starts.  And, that run-down should be standardized with the corner captain having a print-out of what they need to go over with their workers.  For instance, I think the holding the cone over the head when a cone is going to count as a penalty and the clear horizontal wave of the hands when it is not needs to be drilled into people's heads.  More than once when I've been on the radio I have to call out to a worker and ask them if it's a penalty as I don't want to "assume" either way.  And, that distraction/interaction takes our attention off the next car that is coming our way.  That can be usafe to the workers on the course and unsafe to drivers as we can be late on a redflag, etc.    And, there needs to be a red flag protocol as part of that 2 minute rundown where the flag must be in someones hands at all times and unfurled and ready.  We had an issue with this at the AX school where there was need for a redflag and nobody was holding it.  That could have turned out poorly.  We do NOT need a injury/accident out there from laziness/forgetfullness or lack of having a procedure that is done before each group starts.  This can be dangerous business if practices to make is safe are not followed.

This is great feedback, David. Totally agree we have an opportunity to level up as a club here. If you're up for it, we could spend some time at the next event drafting up a worker and radio protocol proposal together.

  2. Selling my turn key PS4 sim racing setup, perfect for someone wanting to try out sim racing on a budget.

    Includes:

Seat: Next Level Racing F-GT Lite Cockpit iRacing Edition - this seat folds up to for more compact storage

Wheel/pedals: Thrustmaster T300RS GT Edition with pedals and TH8A shifter

System: PlayStation 4 system with one controller

Games: Gran Turismo 7, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, No Mans Sky, Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain

Looking to move everything in a single package at $600 but would consider separating the racing hardware from PS4/games. Everything works great, it’s just been unused, taking up space in my office for most of the past year.

John Hogan was the MVP of the day taking top PAX during the crappiest of the crappy.....

Agreed, John was flying in the wet!

Fun course yesterday, flowed well and was pretty challenging to string everything together in a single run. Would have loved a few more cracks at it since there were a couple sections I never got quite right.

My quickest comp run - 44.738s:

Great course this weekend. It was very challenging in my beast. We set a goal to try and get into the 49 second range and made it on our last TO run. We were pretty excited. Can’t wait for January.

Really nice production on your video, Jason - loved hearing the celebration at the end! Great footage of the cars in paddock too.

This was my best TO run (43.257s) - tried my best to make our police officer friend Brian car sick while riding shotgun 😁

The first event’s results from Thomas Triolo are TJ Triolo. I finally realized I could use my preferred nickname on MSR. 🙂

Also, in my class of GS, my competitor Bruce Benaglio’s time is missing. I believe he had a fast time of 52.225, I think he was C group and drives a 2012 BMW 328i.

Hi T.J. - I updated your name for first event. Season results reflect the change which brought you to 3000 points on the season now that event 2 (966) is a drop.

My first run took out the last cone before the exit... I have the scuff mark and video proof of it too  😞

It was my slowest time, so it doesn't change anything.  I just wanted to mention it to ensure there was proper awareness for the suffering that cones endure.

Hey Scott - Neither our electronic or paper audit times indicated a cone on your first run and since it would have no effect on results I'm going to leave it as is. The radios were very busy with cone & DNF calls during C group so it's possible the message from course was never received by timing. Thank you for the honesty.
