  1. Here’s where I went.... https://www.zamp-racing.com/ja3.php
  2. And you are aware of the SCCA approved list of helmet ratings for Solo, right? Never hurts to make sure.😉 There was recently another thread that reviewed those choices.
  3. Everyone, the Tucson Website (HERE) has their entire yearly Calendar and other details, but it also shows when their Registration for their events opens!!! Date and time. Smart, huh? To my knowledge, their own Reservation Site works just fine, is cost-effective, and they are not planning to change to MSR. My little calendar mentioned is updated as soon as dates change from each Club, to the best of my knowledge. Anything ever wrong, let me know.
  4. Hey, this thread is pretty much for date info only. Any questions on event details are best asked in that Club’s own section. Pretty sure the Event Officials don’t monitor my dates posting.😎 Thanks.......
  5. I really enjoy threads like this, especially with the videos showing hand position relative to the course. The views mounted centrally I find most instructive. Very useful. Also have a favor/suggestion to ask. I (and probably others) don’t know many of your Forum names or nicknames. I likely know you and/or your cars when I see you, but not here. Half of these videos I don’t know who you are or even what you’re driving. Suggesting it would be more personable and “community-like” if everyone posted a signature line, or your name as your Forum name. We’d all get to know each other better, I think. Thanks for considering it.😉
  6. Your membership grants you reduced fees for both Phoenix and Sierra Vista Solo Events, as well as other Membership benefits.
  7. I spoke to Dave R Sunday in SV, he said conditions were favorable for holding both days.
  8. Does yours or Ted’s have a shower? Glenda has certain minimum standards.......😉😂
  9. Just a reminder that there is another autocross opportunity in SV next Sunday, in case you were anxious for an opportunity to play with your car. While a little far for the Phoenix or more northern crew, definitely worth your consideration for a special experience. Great airport concrete, very sticky surface, well-run events by a friendly crew of fellow auto enthusiasts, it's a good time. They too have the Covid protocols and restrictions, event limited to 50, so get your entry in now before it fills. Go HERE to get details (Club Website), and HERE to enter. They use the Tucson version of run/work Groups; A/B are paired, and C/D are paired. A is your competition runs, and B is those same cars wanting Time Onlys. Same thing for C/D. Any questions?
  10. They can change the Class easily there. Sounds like fun!😎
  11. Maybe XS-B? What’s your Miata weigh? Minimum Weights (without driver, lbs.) • Class XS-A AWD: 3000 RWD: 2750 FWD: 2500 • Class XS-B RWD: 2150 FWD: 2000
  12. The Subaru Forester (excluded) has about 8.7” of ground clearance, same as yours, but yours is 63” high, the Forester is 68”. In your favor. So sounds borderline. This is the Tech Crews call. You might want to give some thought as to if you really want to do this sport in that car. Not every car should be on an autocross course....🤔 (To compare, my Civic Si has about a 5” ground clearance and is 55” high.)
  13. Hey, I see that there are two dates on the same weekend coming up next month. I’d appreciate some details about what those will be, so I can plan ahead (like for a possible hotel room). Are they two separate actual events, two connected events, or one special day of some sort and one event? Please share what the plan is. Thanks.
  14. Sierra Vista moved their March date one week later to help avoid the March three Club conflict.......👍
  15. For what it’s worth, seems to me that only authorized/appointed Club personnel should be able to access and creat a calendar event in this Forum. Az Region, Tucson, Sierra Vista, PCA, and other recognized Clubs of similar interests. I foresee a real “cluster” if everyone and anyone can add dates to this Forum calendar. Dave had always maintained the AzSolo calendar events, as it should be. A Club appointee. I only added other club’s upcoming dates with links to that Club’s website for related details, since this Forum was new and was not sure every other Club knew how to access the Calendar. So I volunteered to do that. My only goal is to advance the sport of autocrossing, and I think people knowing well in advance those opportunities could only help build participation for ALL Clubs. In my case, as soon as dates are known, they go into our family activity calendar.
  16. When we get back to having Time Onlys (extra non-counting runs for practice), enter and have one of the better drivers drive your car on a run with you in it. Enter a Test and Tune event, and buddy up with one of the local fast drivers. Finally, ask to ride with a faster driver in their car as a passenger, if there’s a time that’s OK. All of the above will help you develop a feel for what a faster corner entry feels like. Kind of a sense of “motor memory”.......sensory in nature.
  17. On Classing, no. You would be DSP Novice, DSP Open, or DSP Sportsman. And you do not HAVE TO run as a Novice. If you are inexperienced you could choose that option. You can't do STH (catch-all), as it's a two-seater. On DSP, seems you are spot-on........from the Solo Rules for DSP:
  18. Revised the Calendar at the top with new Tucson and SV dates. Yea!!!!👍
  19. From the Club Supplementals......the entire Novice definition and specifics. I’m sure there are other questions about being a Novice. And yes, you can upgrade to any regular Class at any time. No one HAS to run Novice.😉
  20. SCCA Classing decisions can sometimes be “adventurous”, but this should be a factor.🤔 H Street .......... Honda Accord V-6........278hp, 252 ft/lbs torque.
  21. Inside any helmet, hidden among the padding, will be an official Snell documentation decal if it is Snell certified. The Tech guys all know where to look. It will have a date sticker.
  22. I know that many Miatas are now breathing a sigh of relief..........😉😂 I've seen you drive.👍
