  1. To whom it may concern among the club... If y'all could take a look at my registration notes and shoot me an email - not sure how it shows up, but I register as OldGray320i (the car I believe I'll have out there, btw...). Holler
  2. Way cool, thank you for putting up!
  3. Follow up, I may be hit or miss. Wife has a bulging disc, causing severe pain, may or (more likely) may not make the event...
  4. If y'all still need help at tech, I'm in, what time do I need to be there, and what can read to bone up on the requirements? Holler
  5. Appreciate the heads up, thanks.
  6. Hey all. Just seeing if we have 2024 events lined up. Cheers Bob
  7. Hoping to scavenge a part or two that nobody has in stock. Holler.
  8. This is important (though not germane to numbers) - if I may make the suggestion that in the drivers meeting, or at least when assigning the starter position, it be mentioned that the starter should pay attention to the relationship of downed cones near the start and how long it takes the course worker to reset the cone before sending the next car. I was fortunate that I wasn't run over after assuming the starter was paying attention to such things, and he wasn't. As in boxing, "protect yourself at all times" when on the course. As to numbers, I picked up a set with the intention of running in San Diego (never did make it out), but did use them when I went to Cal Club (once, then their "big course" was shuttered, too... ugh). And I picked up three, since a 3 digit number was a requirement for newbies. Gives a bit of flexibility to get a number not already taken, and, everybody likes numbers on their "race car" anyway! However, the clubs are run by volunteers, and it's all extra admin work, so as cool as numbers are, it has to be easy to set up and easier still to maintain. CalClub has a sheet they carry over year to year, and they've somehow tied it to motorsport reg. $25 bucks for a number, so hopefully it not only covers the motorsport reg fee but also provides a little extra revenue for the club. Haven't been to Phx in a while, but when I've been there in the past, it's usually functioned pretty well, no numbers needed. My 2 cents, which in these inflationary times are worth less than they usually are. Cheers!
  9. Well hey, appreciate it was considered, that was cool. Did not realize A group was "uncompetitive" - probably because I'm slow! I wouldn't have suggested a parade lap for "group 2", too many cars at Tucson events (though less than Phx, I think), just as noted above. Skip fun runs - what, are you nuts? True enough; from the time perspective, thought of it as more of a little time bonus in the heat of summer, 20 minutes less baking type of thing. During the cooler months, devil may care from the time perspective. Heard on the timing lights, that is an offset to delay during competition, for sure. Once again, appreciate y'all taking the time to not only consider but to post up the reply here. I'd like to get out there more consistently, help a bit with activities and such, see if I can get my act together in the coming year. Cheers. Bob.
  10. My thanks to the gang for providing an event to run, truly, thank you. I liked the course, but with some tight corners it was a challenge for me. I over drive normally so this one made me focus and attempt discipline, but even on my best run or two, I gave away at least a couple tenths. Great fun, as usual. Suggestion? As opposed to the first run group getting an extra "competition" type run to clear the course (on a car by car start), might I offer a Sierra Vista club style parade lap? Time wise I think it would be a little faster, and probably work just as well (better, imo...) at sweeping the course. Maybe levels the field a bit too? A-group gets an "advanced look" driving the course, but a Sunday drive through it and an extra "competition" style run are two different things. Thoughts from the peanut gallery. Cheers.
  11. E21 Bars - $225 OBO Late style, my car is an '83. Will need front bushings (probably should do all 4 - I'd guess avaialbe from ECS/Turner?). Pics show "top" and "bottom". Had these for 20 years, unused, car hasn't run for 15 of them (runs now! But I'm on coilovers, don't need these). Enkei 98 3pc 15x7 4x100 et12 - rough shape, $1000? I know nice 3pc are $$$, so, guessing on price (that plus refinish should put the total value in the ball park?) - feel free to tell me I'm smokin' dope. Ron Davis Radiator - $250 16x22, 1.5 upper, 1.75 lower (Chevy style stock car radiator); awesome radiator, but the inlet and outlet sizes are way to big for my e21, never got the car to cool correctly Cheers
  12. Seriously, Thank You for doing that. Hopefully it will work out well for all involved.
  13. If this is what I think... long lost brother, is that you? Making it out always seems hit or miss with me.
  14. That was my approach. I think I did a couple seasons on BFG SC2s (340tw or something like that) as I decided I wanted to try and be competitive, then RT615s. Learned best on those, I think. I would've done another season on those, but the RE71s were a smokin' price. I thought I'd learned enough to go with 225s once the 71s gave out, but I'd get beat in my STR car by 1-2 seconds by a couple of the really fast E stock guys, so I stayed with 205s when I got the V730s. I think when I can beat the E stock guys by 1-2 sec, I'll be ready for 225s and maybe a set of 15x9s.
  15. Gotta say, I've run RT615s, RE71Rs (not the RE71RS'), and the V730s. I like the V730s the best, but they're a bit narrower than the old 71s, so I think I lose a little time, but they seem to tolerate heat a little better. Since I tend to over drive a course (thus generate heat), they seem to keep my times more consistent. I'll probably get them in 225s next (on 205s now).
  16. Hmmm. Tempted, maybe for the front of the e21. I was going to run 450/300 on that, but they say you should keep a 100lb split, so maybe I should go 400/300 For the E36, too much rate. I've got 375s that came with the ground control kit, but since it's a 318, a bit too stiff with the bump stop. Short story long, found a 6k spring and suitable bumpstops are perfect. M3 bumpstops are the bomb but too wide for the 60mm springs, and the 2.5ID 300s are just a touch too soft. I should just order some springs and be done, but I'm cheap. We'll see how long that lasts.
  17. For 2 different cars, though both BMW 3 series - how about that for symmetry? ~6" length for the front of the E36 ~8" length for the rear of the E21 (I can probably get away with 7" if I use the tenders I have...) Holler
  18. I just put v730s on the Miata. I really like them. My perception is they're a little less grip than RE71s, but they MORE than make up for it in my case as they tolerate ham fisted over driving and the heat it generates a lot better. I'd have to confirm by looking at my historical times, but I usually swing a second between runs as I figure the course out, and as the tires heat up I have to be real careful with my inputs. With these I was a half second or less between runs, and dropped about a full second faster on my last run. By the time I got to my time only runs, I'd dropped another second. Since we run timed and TO back to back, that usually doesn't happen for me, tires are usually a bit too warm at that point. I run 205s, but as these run narrower than the RE71s and RT615ks, I wish I'd gone with 225s. Not sure where that leaves you size wise and what you want competitively, but, maybe a bit wider and less sidewall if they have something like that. They're worth a look, imo.
  19. Size wise, how does it compare to Marana? Been quite a while since I've been down there, a lot of the area open enough for course layout was dirt. Did they finally pave all of it?
  20. Days late, dollars short. I've used Group One Motorwerks for about 15 years, always happy with the service. On Dodge, north of Ft. Lowell. I think he's gotten a little pricier over the years, but, always worth it. Stands behind the work, if it's not right, let them know, they'll make it right. Cool guys. Tell Bart that Bob sent you.
  21. Super bichin' logo. I'm in Tucson, but I'll be grabbing a shirt for that.
