  1. I don't have the energy to update the website today. It will be updated tomorrow. The registration site has the correct run/work order posted at the top of the page when you go to register. The main website is incorrect right now.
  2. The website isn't currently structured to show start time based on a combination of site location AND season. It's not a hard change to make, but the easier change is to just edit the fall start times after this next event, and we recently lost our webmaster. Please have some patience, the website will be updated in time for the Kino event.
  3. A couple questions I've received. How do I know if I'm qualified to be a board member? A good board member looks something like this: You like autocross enough to attend most of our events, and plan to be around for a year or more You bring positive energy to the table and want to give back to the community You have a pulse, can fog a mirror, etc. You do not need to be a fast driver or anything. You do not need to know much about how the club runs, we can teach you. Finding volunteers is hard. If you're willing, that's most of the qualification right there. I've got a busy life. I want to help, but I'm not sure I can commit to all that. We all have a busy life. 🙂 That's why we need help. The more board members we have, the easier the workload is on everyone. I'll admit I don't make it to every board meeting, but I will send a monthly update to the board if I have to skip. The big thing with the commitment is to be a person we can rely on, and to stay in communication with the rest of the board. Again, if you're willing, we will try to make it work.
  4. tl;dr The next board meeting is Wednesday October 5th at 7pm. If you're interested in any of these roles, please send me an email about attending the meeting. I know lots of people have stepped up to help with setup and teardown at events, and I'm very grateful for that. However, the board is in a very tough spot right now. This year we've already lost one board member, two of our longest serving board members have announced they will be retiring from the board at the end of this year, and one more board member has a child due in a few months. We need to get 3-4 people onto the board by the end of this year, or our ability to hold solo events is going to be in jeopardy. This isn't an exaggeration, we are losing some very key people. Joining the board has benefits: free entry at solo events the work you do in your board position counts as your work assignment for solo events your region membership fee is refunded The commitment we need from you is typically not that big: you need to be a full status SCCA member in the AZ Border Region (not a weekend member) you need to attend board meetings (first Wednesday of every month, 1-2 hours on zoom) your assigned board position duties (typically another 1-2 hours per month) A number of board members are not picky about what position they hold, so just because you don't see an opening in the board position you're interested in doesn't mean we can't make that spot available. Ultimately I'd like to get people lined up in the next meeting so that we can get a smooth transition of responsibilities by the end of this year. Shoot me an email or post here if you have any questions!
  5. Yup - as I told someone else, we don't staff a registration table anymore. This is primarily to reduce workload on the volunteers - but come to think about it, it's probably easier on entrants too. I don't miss standing in line for paperwork formalities.
  6. I'll further add that I have never denied a refund request. Weather, mechanical, emotional, astrological, whatever.
  7. Website now reflects the correct times. Please double check the times. They are new summer start times for 2022.
  8. Used tires. Date code 1421 (April of last year). I bought these middle of last year and used them for the ProSolo finale, Solo nats, and a couple Marana events. 4/32nds remaining. When not mounted to the car for competition, they've been stored in immaculate conditions - sealed bags, indoors in a climate controlled room. Not used for daily driving. Nothing wrong with them, just wanted a full tread tire mounted for Fontana. They still make excellent grip, but I don't have any spare wheels and my tire storage is starting to overflow. My loss is your gain. $200 for the set. Please email me (remove the + signs): m+reys+ser+@+gmail.com.
  9. I've always used K&B Auto Glass, on recommendation from this forum many years ago. The Celica was cheap, like $110. The FRS was pricey, like $450. However, the windshield is part of the car's safety system - you want to make sure you have strong, OEM quality glass, and you want the installer to take their time and do the job right. K&B gets top marks on both of those, and to me that's more important than price. I've probably had 3-4 windshields done by them at this point.
  10. Please double check the pax factors! https://www.azbrscca.org/autocross/pax.html Unfortunately this is a 100% manual process. Human error almost guaranteed. I was able to register myself so hopefully it works for the rest of you. 🙂
  11. Oops. Pretty sure that's because the 2022 classes/pax factors weren't uploaded to the DB yet. I've closed registration for now while I work on the problem. Registration will now open Saturday 1/8 at 7pm. I apologize for the mistake.
  12. Hi everyone, our December 12th event is confirmed for Marana. Also, we've decided to bring back our end of year party, which we'll hold right after the event. I don't have final details on this, but it will probably be at Boston's. The club will pay for your food and any non-alcoholic drinks. See you all there!
  13. I'm going to leave it as Monday. It's kind of a rug pull for anyone who saw it was delayed to Monday, and then takes the weekend off from the forums. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but as you can see confirming the dates is getting harder as construction ramps up. We have been super fortunate to put in most of a year at this site but we really can't promise anything more than the next event. I hope people don't miss out.
  14. I had previously delayed the open of registration; in order to avoid additional churn or rug pulls, I am not going to pull it back forward. Registration opens Monday November 8 at 7pm. Thanks for your patience, hope to see you all out there!
  15. I feel old. I remember when we crammed 240 entries through Skidpad 4.
  16. Sorry everyone. We're still trying to get the airport but we don't have confirmation yet. To buy more time, registration for the event will now open at 7pm on Monday November 8th.
  17. For a long time, our region has been blessed with a core group of dedicated volunteers. These are the people doing extra work - at events as well as outside them - to make sure this club runs like a well oiled machine. This is something you only tend to notice when these people are absent, and suddenly things aren't going so smoothly. I feel like this club has done pretty well at avoiding volunteer burnout. That said, the core staffing has dwindled down to a critical level. So we are asking for help. One area of particular need is setup help. There are maybe 2-3 people who know how to turn the equipment truck into a functioning Solo event; if ever they all can't make it, we're in for a rough day. We'd really like to train some people up to double or triple this number. This counts as a work assignment too, which is great if you ever need to cut out of an event early or just want to chill and watch cars. Currently teardown is not a work assignment, but if there are people interested in having that count for a work assignment then we can explore that. We also have open spots on the board - probably more than you can see. Some board members need a break; some want to keep helping but in a different capacity than they are now. Talk to us if you want to serve on the board. If there's a position or line of work that looks interesting to you, the person doing that now might actually be ok with you doing it! Board members typically spend a few hours each month doing stuff outside the event and are expected to help however is needed during the event, but otherwise this counts as all your work assignments, and there are additional benefits as well. Lastly, while I will never turn away free help, I want to especially encourage younger members to step up. Y'all are the future of the club and you bring fresh perspectives to the table. This is your chance to help shape the club into what it needs to be in order to keep thriving.
  18. Thanks to everyone who came out, and a special thanks to all the out of town folks who helped make this a success. Distance record goes to Jeff and Denise Cashmore, from Wisconsin! Results are now available for both days. Congrats to Tony Rivera for being the Most Awesome driver!
  19. The club got kicked out of there at the end of 2005. Probably not welcome back.
  20. Hi Todd, spectators are allowed. No weekend membership is required. All we ask is that you avoid crowded areas like grid, the timing table, the equipment truck, etc. due to covid concerns.
  21. I processed 14 refunds, the vast majority of which are due to bad UI/UX. I apologize. I don't do website or frontend work professionally, so some details I don't think through. What I should've done was put a warning under the payment button not to click it if you were only registered for one day, but wanted to register for the second one still. If you think you are still owed a refund, please send an email to payments [at] azbrscca.org and I'll take a look. Gotta say I'm very excited for this event. Many national champs from California coming out. Everybody bring your A-game. Still plenty of spots left too - come try your hand against the top guns of the West Coast!
  22. Spectators are allowed. Due to covid, please avoid crowding in the hot areas, the timing table, equipment truck, etc.
  23. I should update the website - "primary" and "alternate" have swapped, and honestly we will never use the old entrance again unless we are forced to by circumstances outside our control.
