Registration for our autocross event on March 1 at Podium Club will open this Friday!

For the events at Podium Club, we are revising the price for our upcoming autocross events.

The price for events at other venues will not change.

  • $80 for for SCCA member, $100 for non members.
  • No Time-Only
  • 120 registrants cap.

The nature of the events there will be a lot different from those at Kino.

It is a dedicated track with superb grip and spacious course.

On top of that, Podium Club is a commercial entity, and they need to make profit.

While feedback from people on the January-18 event was mostly positive, with the same price as Kino, this is simply not sustainable.

Hope to see you all there!

I am not likely to make this one, but, for future events at PC...

How many runs?

Estimated time duration of "average run"?  I.e. 60 second course, 45 seconds, etc...?

Thanks

Sharing a perspective here……. historically autocrosses are and have been three runs. Then if time in the day is left, schedule some Time Onlys.

Administratively speaking, A Trackcross is not an autocross. Longer, faster, more complex and demanding of all, especially Club Staff. Logistics: Plenty long with three runs, ditch the fourth runs at these special events. Only so much time in a day.

Charge $60, three runs, great track time, more manageable and likely more entrants at that price point. I believe that $80 is too high of a price point for our autocross Community.

For your consideration going forward…….beware the point of diminishing return.🤔

So prices have gone up, but has there been work done to resolve some of the logistic concerns from last event?

The club is spending over $1k on fresh timing antennas/cabling as well as additional radios. The old antennas may or may not be tuned correctly for the transmit frequency but now we are buying the same stuff used by SCCA national.

The board spent a total of 4 hours across two meetings to exhaustively discuss each and every opportunity for improvement for the next event. This is above and beyond the typical monthly meeting commitment of ~1 hour, and of course there are still several open action items to resolve in the next two weeks.

We will have more board members camping overnight to help get setup done the night before, and a larger setup window to get it done in.

Yeah, I realize I am asking people to pay more money and have faith that things will be fixed. But I would not ask you to have faith if the board wasn't working their asses off to fix all this. And the economic reality here is that the alternative is to just not have events for half the year - I've talked about this previously.

Grace is mercy you don't deserve. I am asking you for a little bit of grace for the last event.

BTW just for expectation setting, we are targeting 4-5 runs per run group, with a bias towards 5. If this event goes well, we will offer TOs at Podium Club events in the future.

Hey Manfred, I apologize, I think my message came across different than it was intended. I know you all put in a lot of work and are continuously doing so. I was not at the first event, and I am just going by what I have been told and what I have read. This was more so to show everyone that work is being done to improve on the previous experiences as I have read all of the comments on both Facebook and this forum from some of the disgruntled attendees. Even with everything read, I feel I missed out on the first event and as always, I plan to attend any event in the future that I can financially justify.

See you soon!

I made the first PC event, but wont make the upcoming one.   I am confident the team will get the logistics figured out and this will become a great event location.   I plan on making it out to future events as it is a great facility.

Do I go back to registration if I already registered but I wanna edit my registration Also, I lost Cell Phone servers when I registered. I did not get a chance to pay. How do I go back on and pay or can I do that at the track?

My understanding is that you are not registered until paid. So yes, you go back to their registration site to edit your registration, and then during checkout you would pay. Sounds like you haven’t yet.

i believe paying at the track is strongly discouraged, and much more expensive.

You can modify your registration info at https://registration.azbrscca.org until the registration closes.

Online payment is much desirable.  Just pay once on PayPal.  If you have already, just edit the registration and don't pay twice.

Scott’s post above shows an option for Time Only runs. Are they truly available or was this from a page that wasn’t fully updated?  I didn’t see that option on the registration page

Currently not planned at this event.  Registration site does not (should not) give this option, as you experienced.
