Matt Francis
Hi All, Is a new Subaru Crosstrek ok to bring out to Autocross?
Frank Vessell
Unstable vehicles with a high center of gravity and a narrow track, includ- ing SUVs, minivans, and 4WD pickups, must be excluded. Examples of such vehicles are listed in Appendix A. Extra caution should be exercised with non-traditional vehicles (e.g., trucks using racing slicks). In the SCCA Solo Rulebook for 2021, it shows how to figure the rollover quotient. It's figured by figuring the track length and overall hight of the vehicle. If it is considered similar to the Subaru Forester in size, it would be excluded.
Matt Francis
makes sense!
Matt Francis
however I would say the 1:1 requirement probably has some gray area? strictly speaking a new Subaru impreza BARELY qualifies.
smeyers
The Subaru Forester (excluded) has about 8.7” of ground clearance, same as yours, but yours is 63” high, the Forester is 68”. In your favor. So sounds borderline. This is the Tech Crews call. You might want to give some thought as to if you really want to do this sport in that car. Not every car should be on an autocross course....🤔 (To compare, my Civic Si has about a 5” ground clearance and is 55” high.) jw1
I wouldn't autocross that vehicle. Rollovers are real. There are number of videos out there showing cars rolling, here is one:
Nick Sloan
I will also chime in and say that is not a car you would want to autocross.

race2win
With an average track width of 61.1" and a height of 71" the Crosstrek unfortunately is not allowed to run SCCA autocross events due to rollover potential. See section 3.1.A of the solo rules for more info. https://www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules Edited March 9, 2021 by race2win
