polg20
Hello!! Planning on expanding from rallycross. Car is a stock Infiniti G20 5 speed. I have overhauled the entire front suspension and its been fun/reliable and somewhat competitive in stock 2wd in rallycross with dedicated winter tire setup. Just got some 15x6.5 wheels and looking to get tires if someone selling usable 205 50 15 to get me going or recommendation on what tire to best start on, right now between Federal RS-R and NT05. Is there a specific class for new comers or everyone is classified on car alone? Thanks for reading pic of my 140hp pig in dirt
Sith302chris
If your just wanted to start out at autocross you will pick your specific class then pick novice. When racing under novice your going against all over novice cars. As far as the specific class goes Im not really sure what that would fall under.
smeyers
So, time to read up on the rules....Click Here Classing lists start on page 181. Likely you have a few additions (wheel size?) that might bump you out of Stock (now called Street), but this early in the game not likely to be important. Yet. So, I’ll guess H Street/Novice........look it up and see what you find. Knowing the rules is a good thing.😉👍 Edited March 10, 2021 by smeyers
Matt U
For tires, especially in a mostly non competitive car, the 200 tread wear tires may not be the most practical option. One of the go to wet/cold weather tires is the ExtremeContact Sport from Continental. It’s a 340 tread wear but you will get a lot more useful life out of them around here and they won’t be that much slower, if any. They have huge shoulder blocks, so a camber challenged car will take longer to eat up the outer shoulder. Keep in mind that the Federal and Nitto tires you are referring to need some serious temperature to work well. So my guess is that the Continental’s would actually be a faster tire for most of the year except for those hot summer days. https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeContact+Sport&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=05WR5ECS&tab=Sizes Edited March 10, 2021 by Matt U

polg20
Ordered the Contis! cant wait to attend the first event. Nice ebay coupon if anyone looking for tires. Shipped by discounttiredirect, came out to be $35 less a tire VS their site directly. https://www.ebay.com/e/p&a/tires-spring-coupon-031521?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5337259887&toolid=10001&customid=59f3c05c88d911ebb7bd86ac4273965d0INT Edited March 19, 2021 by polg20
