Hello!  I just purchased a second home in Gold Canyon (first one in St. Louis).  In St. Louis, we have a very active SCCA HPDE group with lots of instructors (I am one) which encourage newbies into the sport.  We use World Wide Technologies Road Course for these events once a month in an afternoon-only schedule.  We provide instructors for all novice and some intermediate-level drivers.  The event is usually sold-out with about 50 cars participating.  Instructors get free track time as payment for instructing.  There are classroom sessions for the Novice group.  Can you please tell me if there are similar events in the Phoenix region?

Yes, there are a few HPDE organizations here in the Valley. Pro Auto, NASA and Hooked on Driving all do events at the local tracks which are Az Motorsports Park (Goodyear), Firebird Raceway(Ahwatukee), Podium Club at Attesa (Casa Grande) and Inde Motorsports (Wilcox). I run a modified C5 Z06 with Pro Auto and I'm having a blast! Season starts Oct 5-6 at Firebird East Track. You should come check it out. Free to watch and socialize.
