For just being your first timed event that was not that bad at all. Shortening up distance traveled by being tighter on the cones is the most glaring thing I see and it really wasn't that bad. Getting up closer to the edge of grip by carrying more speed would also help. Not bad at all though, nice work.
Thank you! I had a hard time getting the car to rotate, I'm needing to learn to be able to modulate the brake better when going around a turn to help with the rotation. I agree with you about carrying more speed, I was also having a hard time knowing when I was at the edge of grip, any suggestions?

This is my first AutoX event. I attended the Test N Tune session last month to get the car sorted. However I was not able to attend the following day. This was my last and best run of the day. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for the info. I actually ended up designing my own string jig. I posted it up on Thingiverse in case anyone else was interested in making their own: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4632013

I haven't seen any mention of it as of yet, so I was just wondering.

I attended the Test and Tune session, however I haven't attended an official event as of yet. It took me 2 runs to start getting comfortable. I'm looking forward to attending the coming event next month.
What does a novice class cover? I may be interested.

Interested in making your own string box alignment jig? If you have a 3D printer or know of someone who does, here you go! My contribution to the group. 🙂 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4632013

I had a blast! As my very first event, I couldn't be any happier. The people that I had the pleasure of meeting were are very friendly and welcoming. I'm looking forward to the next event!

Will there be any available tomorrow morning on site? I'm not able to print one out this evening unfortunately. Thanks!

Will there be copies of the AMP waiver available tomorrow? I just noticed that my printer is dead and won't be able to get one printed tonight.

That's not a bad question. lol I think I changed mine once in the last year. haha The car gets very little miles on it outside of track use.
That's pretty much the same scenario that I'm in. 👍

Hi Everybody,
How long do you go before replacing the engine oil on a AutoX only car? Meaning, it doesn't see street use.
Thanks!

Thank you Nick!

If the OP doesn't get back to you, I'm interested.

I was also contemplating on getting a Tenhulzen 1100 Camber/Caster gauge. Still trying to decide.
-
Thank you everyone. Just as Dan suggested I'm using a piece of angle iron as my straight edge and an angle finder to stop my camber. I was able to make my own string box with the help of a friend. I'll be using some laminate flooring tiles as my 'turn plates'. I'm hoping to get the car aligned this weekend. It'll be my first timing aligning the car.
-
If so, what method do you use? What camber/caster gauge do you use? I'm looking to start doing my own alignments, I'm trying to keep it as budget friendly as possible. Thanks!

Banner, the SCCA guide would be a good start. On page 57 is where course penalties (including specifics about pylons) are discussed.
https://solo.stlscca.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/2020-SCCA-Solo-Rules-3-16-20.pdf
You'd want to get there early enough so that you'd have time to walk the course at least 2 times. If there's a walking group where someone is explaining specifics about each section of the course, that would also be good for you... but I'm not sure if those are going on right now.
Thank you, I'll be sure to review the guide and arrive early.

Being that this would be my first event and given the current situation, would there still be time to explain how the course work is done along with walking the course? I'm just not familiar with process. 🙂

Understood. Damn you Rona!

Hi Everybody,
I've been wanting to get into AutoX for years now and the time has finally come. Where can I get more information about the Novice School that will be held on Nov. 14th?
Thank you!

Hey Everyone,
I haven't found a specific number of events that are required to be attended before moving up in class. Is there a required number of sessions that must be attended? TIA.
