For just being your first timed event that was not that bad at all.  Shortening up distance traveled by being tighter on the cones is the most glaring thing I see and it really wasn't that bad.  Getting up closer to the edge of grip by carrying more speed would also help.  Not bad at all though, nice work.

Thank you! I had a hard time getting the car to rotate, I'm needing to learn to be able to modulate the brake better when going around a turn to help with the rotation. I agree with you about carrying more speed, I was also having a hard time knowing when I was at the edge of grip, any suggestions?

  2. I attended the Test and Tune session, however I haven't attended an official event as of yet. It took me 2 runs to start getting comfortable. I'm looking forward to attending the coming event next month.

What does a novice class cover? I may be interested.

  3. Thank you everyone. Just as Dan suggested I'm using a piece of angle iron as my straight edge and an angle finder to stop my camber. I was able to make my own string box with the help of a friend. I'll be using some laminate flooring tiles as my 'turn plates'. I'm hoping to get the car aligned this weekend. It'll be my first timing aligning the car.

Banner, the SCCA guide would be a good start.  On page 57 is where course penalties (including specifics about pylons) are discussed.

You'd want to get there early enough so that you'd have time to walk the course at least 2 times.  If there's a walking group where someone is explaining specifics about each section of the course, that would also be good for you... but I'm not sure if those are going on right now.

Thank you, I'll be sure to review the guide and arrive early.
