No i didn't get the wheels or tires yet.  I wanted to make sure the dealer isn't playing rediculous games on the car purchase before dropping the coin for them.  I'm supposed to pick it up next week.  But I intend to get Enkei PF01's in 17x7.5 in bronze (DS class) and probably the RT660 or RE71rs in 245's.  I'm torn though because the Yoko A052's are supposed to be great, but given we are in phoenix and those are not supposed to handle high heat well, I thought maybe they are not ideal?   But since it is only autocross, how much heat can they really build if I'm not using a co-driver.  But, hey, I'm getting ahead of myself.  I'm still a novice, but I have every intention of being competitive.

The Enkei's are for DS that Brian has and what ever size RE71rs on them will be a great start for anyone to get in the rythem of Autocrossing. I've driven DS in two BRZ's now for DS and running the RE71's, they do not want heat. Yoko's and Bridgestone have built tires that need to be as room temp or lower as possible. The RT660 is a good tire but needs heat to be it's best.

Also to the TPMS question, I've helped swap off the stock wheels and tires at events and slap on the Autocross set-up with no issue with TPMS... Unless the owner had them already? Talk to Morgan( morganTaylor193 ) he runs a DS BRZ

  2. Hey Ron, there is a lot of talent in the CAM class and I know most of you run together to add more fun. Feel free to catch someone that might be able to ride along and give some pointers.

If you're at the next event. I'll come by and see if I can hop in and give some pointers.

First time was a blast and also frustrating.   Need to learn when to push and when not to.  Also need to do better learning the course.  Walked it 3 times (with a map). Your perspective in car at speed is alot different.  I did learn engine braking is not your friend!   (apparently I also need to learn how to post a video.  File too big)

But I also maintained a section for the latest PAX Factors where I could track my PAX Times in comparison to not just the top local drivers, but also my "Benchmark" drivers. The ones that I gauge my comparable gains or losses against by percentages. For many years I was known to locals as "Paxman". If someone wanted to know how they were doing on a given day, they'd ask me.  Still have that license plate.........😎

These days I'm mostly tracking percentages of my raw times against my personal Benchmark drivers.

Scott you will always be known as "Paxman".  😄

  5. Hey Dov!

Good to see you're coming back out. STS has a lot of challengers now locally.

For STS Miata it's Yoko's A052 205/50's. The "tenth" of a second step down is the Bridgestone RE-71RS 205/50. It's still arguable that depending on your driving style one is faster than the other, but so far with the testing it's slower. Only thing to keep in mine is with either tire you have to bring a sprayer when it starts to get 75degrees and above. Long gone are the days that the top tire's "like" heat.

The other options that Sid mentioned are also great options, but noticeably slower. You do however get longer life out of them and they can handle heat.

Fuel tank, Thank you Mazda. 14mm bolt on the bottom of the tank. Driver side before the axle. Easy to access and drain. Be careful not to over tighten when done.

Yes you can. You'll have to email or call SCCA to add the second region. I think there's also an option to add another region when you renew on the web, but you have to wait until renewal time to do it. You do have to pay dues for both regions, but an extra $20 a year is probably worth it to have the early reg benefit.

Thanks for the info. I'm good with supporting both groups.

New to autocross and unsure what class I fall into, thanks for any help in advance!!

    2013 bmw 328i

    -bootmod3 stage 1 tune

-bootmod3 8 speed DSG sport transmission tune

    -resonator and muffler delete

    -H&R super sport springs

Looks like you fall in DSP(D Street Prepared). Use what Sid posted though to double check. Street Prepared rules start on Page 98.
