  1. My comments as a SC member, and these only reflect my opinion and not the SC as a whole

If anyone has a suggestion consider the following questions:

    (1) What am I offering to do to make my suggestion happen? And no, suggesting more work for others does not count, lol. Put your volunteer commitment right out there with your suggestion. An offer of extra volunteer work goes a long way to demonstrate personal commitment and perhaps inspire others to do the same.

    (2) Am I a member of the club that I am offering suggestions to? As a member of the SC, I will of course consider any suggestion from anyone either posting on the forum or at event. This club has been successful by changing and adopting new processes and practices. That said, I will admit to a bias that if you are a Phoenix AZ Solo region member and have skin in the game on the ongoing success of our autocross program in Phoenix I listen even more intently. If you are still a AZ Region member and believe they will start an autocross program outside of Maricopa County that is your decision. Otherwise, please consider moving your region of record to  the Phoenix AZ Solo region by sending SCCA an email with your name, SCCA number to membership@scca.com and request the change. (yes a shameless plug for this club)

And thank you to those who have already made the switch!

Lance is correct. Very difficult to allow 250+ participants and be cleaned up and off site by 5pm. Steve also made mention of past times where we did have the max of 240 or so drivers and got 3 runs. Understandable for a national event, not so great for a local event and many were unhappy with it.

It's an unfortunate trade off, but right now the only viable option for the Phx region unless track restrictions are lifted or other sites are obtained.

for clarity AMP has a site restriction of 200 folks for their entire complex, not aware of any foreseeable change

Kim, it would be appreciated if the setup Crew could put some pointer cones out there to make it easier to see for us morning folks. I personally found even the old entrance a little challenging before in the dark. This one might be more so.

    Please?🙏

fyi the set up crew is setting up the day before   Jim Baus indicated he would place something by the new entrance

  4. Next Step- How to become a Phoenix AZ Solo SCCA Region member

Dear fellow Phoenix area SCCA auto crossers,

As we have previously communicated the SCCA Board of Directors recently met, discussed, and approved the formation of the newly formed Phoenix AZ Solo Region to conduct events in Maricopa County, AZ. Our National SCCA membership Committee has now officially completed all the needed programming to operate the new region.

What does that mean for Arizona Region members?  You have the opportunity to make a few choices regarding your membership.  Your options are as follows:

    1.       Move your membership to Phoenix AZ Solo Region (Region #117) as your Region of Record. Contact SCCA Membership via either email (membership@scca.com) or phone 1-800-770-2055 your request (include your SCCA member number). All your future regional dues will go exclusively to support local autocross Phoenix area activities. By taking this action you will receive a new membership card reflecting your membership in the Phoenix AZ Solo Region (note your SCCA member number remains the same).

    2.       You may of course leave your membership as is, remaining a member of the Arizona Region. Note: No part of these dues will support the local autox program.

    3.       Become a dual member, having membership, and paying dues for each Region. Contact SCCA to choose this option.

The Steering Committee is grateful to SCCA National for affording us this opportunity for the Phoenix area SCCA solo group to function as a standalone region.  It will allow us more freedom in the areas of programing, event scheduling and most importantly control of our club’s finances. Our wish and recommendation to you regarding your future membership choice, would be of course, to have you join us in support of the new region (option 1 above).

As a Steering Committee, we thank you for your continued support of local solo events and look forward to a continued long and successful autox program in the valley.

Most Sincerely and looking forward to seeing you all at the next solo event, your Phoenix AZ Solo Region Solo Steering Committee.

Questions or suggestions regarding any of the above? Please email Kevin at kvenisn@msn.com or Kim at kkempvet@aol.com.

Tried logging in from my tablet and it didn't recognize my PW.

    I ran B20.

My runs were 54.x, second run was a 56.x dirty with a passenger, the rest are as I remember them.

No idea who that 55 belongs to.. maybe the Neon?

    All

A reminder please, what was posted was not audited, and thus not official. When prelim results are posted you can bring up any corrections you feel are needed.

    Thank you

    Kim

  6. Regrettably we had scoring issues at yesterday's event and we apologize for those glitches. (lessons were learned and plans to address the issues are in the works). The timing/scoring crew is working on auditing the two sets of timing sheets then uploading into the results section of the website, please give them some time to audit and compile close to 140 entrants and 5 runs each.

In the meantime, attached is one set of the timing sheets. First, these are not the official results. Second, they have not been audited against the other set of times. Once the results have been posted you will have the normal process of requesting any edits. So please do not post or request any corrections until the preliminary results are up on the website.

Thank you for your understanding and patience

    Kim

I'm a newb, so excuse me if this is a dumb question. Does your comment mean that the number of drivers would increase? October was my first event and it seemed like it was pretty full already. Would be tough to get a decent amount of laps with more drivers.

Is the number of folks wanting to participate this year typical or have numbers bumped up?

As you correctly observed we are at about capacity on drivers per run group, there are no plans at present to increase the run size with the result then being fewer runs. The restrictions on guests will also likely continue for the near future as if we exceed 100 folks on site we need to provide security at the site per our contract with AMP. (which is both expensive and challenging to find sworn officers)

My observation is that both a number of SCCA and PCA clubs have seen increased demand for autox events during the past year.

Will it be pretty obvious where to go to do this? Like on our website, somehow in MSR, where will this be?

if you are looking to print off the new AMP waiver it will show up as a link on your MSR receipt you can also find the generic (no pre populated date/location) AMP waiver on the home page of the website labeled AMP waiver.

  9. A couple of changes that you need to be aware.

First, after the Sept event, we started to explore options to increase the amount of time that cars can be on track and thus more runs. One option that AMP only agreed with yesterday was allowing us to do course set up on Friday before the Oct event.  In keeping with that change, the schedule of activities for the day has also been revised.

You may also notice the absence of sound testing as AMP has another track event the same day.  Like last month our tech folks in agreement with the AMP crew will make the decision to let cars run provisionally. As a note, the vast majority of stock cars will pass sound.

    New Schedule

6:00 am Gates open only for Setup, Waiver, SSS, Etc.
6:30 am Gates Open for drivers and guests
    6:45 am Registration opens
    6:45 am Tech opens
7:00 am Course open for walking
    7:15 am Novice Course Walk
7:35 am Registration and Tech close
7:45 am Course closed for walking
    7:55 am Driver's Meeting
    8:10 am First car off
    11:30 am Morning Session ends
12:00 pm Gates open for afternoon session, Registration and Tech open
12:40 pm Registration and Tech close
    12:45 pm Driver's meeting
1:00 pm First car off for afternoon session
    4:00 pm End of event

This change is only for the Oct event, after the event we will determine whether it was successful and if this can be an option for events that we can gain access to the skidpad the day before a future event.
    • Thanks 2
  10. Just a reminder that registration for the Oct autocross will open Oct 1, 2021 at 8 pm.

Also, AMP is now requiring a new minor waiver to be completed if you bring a minor on their site. Their minor waiver is posted on our website. This requirement is in addition to the SCCA minor waiver form that would also need to be signed.
