First timer, looking to understand registration

Recommended Posts

Hi Buds, this will be my first time in autocross. Im not expecting to win but want to gain experience and have fun with the family.

I signed up for SCCA membership to support the sport and am working on getting my qualified helmet.

But I still have 2 questions right now

1) I went to sign up for PASAR Solo Autocross Spring 2024 Series Event 3 and was not sure what is PAX? the next question after choosing your group.

(Also can you explain more about the "Time Only" add-on?

2) I looked at the rules and the process flow chart for car classifications but still unsure of where I fall. It's a 1997 Honda Prelude, I see the car generally falls into the H Street (HS) category except my car has an upgraded steel braided clutch line. The only other mod I have is aftermarket exhaust after the cat..

I see it also falls into "STS", "XA", "ESP", "SMF" "EP". Although as i understand it the more I move through these the more heavily modified the cars are. I want to be competitive in my class at least and not get obliterated.

Any guidance, reference tools, information you can lend me about being a new driver and these two questions would help me immensely.

Thank you in advance

Hey Prelude,

Given it will be your first time. You will select Novice under PAX and HS for Class. I believe the two modifications still fall under HS. If you are running a wider wheel that will bump you into a new class. I point this out as it's one of the most common changes people make.

As for Time Only's. Those are "Fun Runs" After competing in the morning groups you will then have Groups E or F that is for getting additional runs in the day. Great for continuing to improve as a driver.

Thanks Civil I was confused when I went through the yes/no questionnaire. When I added my mods it said not qualified, but i knew they were very basic.

Another question I had is I saw in the rules you can have a truck/trailer with you. So I assume that even if I drive the competition car to the raceway I can have my wife drive my truck with tools, jacks, etc in it for me to park and use down in the pits?

I know I need to register her to attend but if my 6mo old comes too do I need to register her too?
