1. Had a lot of fun at the event and was a super fast fun flowing course by Nick. Weather was perfect as well as were the brand new RT660s on my car. Here was my 44.127 on my third run. Car probably had another 1-1.5 seconds in it, but the driver apparently didn't. Can't wait to start the new series in January... Post up your own vids if you have one...
2. Thanks for getting the results up so quick. Its not a big deal but Mike Hitt in CAM T was able to get his 1970 Chevelle to pass sound and raced it instead of the CAM T 1961 F100 he registered in.
3. I'll share Barney with ya if you want... I'm in C.
4. AMP Waiver attached, please remember to print out, sign and bring with you to the event. AZSolo Fall 2020 Seires Event 4 Waiver.pdf
5. Yep, registration opens at 8 pm tonight.

Tires

Shoot... Wish I would have seen this a few days ago... I just ordered new RT660s
7. Thank you for all of the advice Matt. Playing things back in my head after a run is something I do regularly, especially if I know I'm off the pace and trying to figure out why. What I am not very good at is figuring out if I'm off the pace on my own without looking at other's times. I can tell if I have the car up near the edge of grip or if I've missed a corner or an element pretty well...but what I missed the last two events is just how far the grip level of my tires had fallen off. I generally have to do things a bit differently with my car than most autocrossers to set a good time and when it is suffering in one form or another, it's just not going to happen no matter what I do. I'll have new skins on before the next event, just ordered a fresh set of RT660s. I'll also be giving more attention to traveling the shortest distance possible vs solely worrying about car position based on what I learned when comparing Mat's data to my own at GGs. I knew I was taking a wide arc in spots there, but had imagined it was helping me setup for the straights better. The data showed me that I was loosing a ton of time by doing that. Going back and watching a bunch of videos of other fast drivers on the same course confirmed this as well.
8. So I run a Hero 3 and a Samsung Tab A tablet, but separately. I gave up trying to get Solostorm to control a GoPro a while ago. It's just easier for me to integrate the GoPro MP4 video into Solostorm afterwards. The latest Solostorm update makes this import function MUCH easier than before. I think James Wolter is using Solostorm to control his Hero 8 directly though, so he may chime in.
9. Go fast, travel least amount of distance possible...always...
10. So I learned a pretty important lesson this past weekend about distance traveled and related elapsed time and I thought I'd share it with the class. Mat Leon and I both ran GoodGuys Autocross and we both were data logging with Solostorm. Yesterday we shared logs with each other and did some comparing. The two logs compared below are my 42.3xx I ran on Friday and Mat's 42.4xx he ran on Sunday I believe, same course. Please disregard the total elapsed times on the logs as they are incorrect, I think we have our start and stop triggers configured differently. What is more important are the individual sector data points. Here is sector 2 right after the start, notice they are pretty close between us on just about everything. Sector 3 shows Mat traveled 7 feet less with both of us averaging 28.6ish mph...and he picked up 0.25 seconds on me. Sector 4 was pretty similar as was sector 5. Sector 6 got pretty interesting though. Lance traveled 27 feet less and gained 3 tenths of a second. Sector 7 was a huge jump though. Mat traveled 47 feet less distance at roughly the same average speed and picked up 1.271 seconds on me!! I returned the favor in sector 8 though. 33 feet less and picked up 0.973 seconds. Then he gained back in sector 9 by traveling another 33 feet less and picking up 0.622 seconds. I haven't done the math yet...but just imagine the time we would have saved if one of us had hit all of those sectors as tight as each of us did separately! I'm guessing what, 4 seconds quicker at least. No wonder we were so far behind some similar cars... I always knew distance traveled was important but this really brought it to light to me. Hopefully this helps some others in this area as well. I know I'll concentrate much harder in the future on limiting the distance traveled while on course. Hopefully this also shows some just how helpful data logging can be, anyone running Solostorm can upload logs for others than ran the same course to download so they can compare and learn from as well.
11. Thanks Matt! Certainly helps to hear how other's attack a course to find time. A lot of really experienced racers like to say you need to be fast in the fast parts... This is what I'm currently working on. I've made a few changes to the car recently and they allow me to do things that I couldn't do with it before. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to do that things faster... 😄 BTW, I really love having Solostorm logging in my car during runs and we now have 3 of us comparing solostorm runs after races to see who went faster and where. It would certainly help more if we could do it in between runs but that is pretty difficult if not co-driving. Mat, James and I can all upload our runs to a cloud, then download each others and compare one right over the other. It's pretty cool...
12. This was my fast dirty run 51.584. I hit the cone on right side coming across the back stretch.
13. Thanks Sid and Brian, I think you are both correct. The run I posted the video of was 1 second slower than my 2nd and 3rd runs which were both dirty, so I had to use a bit more caution. Brian killed it in the slalom and I could definitely see the extra speed and aggression in the braking zones as well. I was trying to carry as much speed as I could in slalom without getting behind and it's tough when it's imperative that you don't cone out. Even that 1 second faster run would have only moved me up to about 28th raw time where I'm typically 15-20th. I guess it just wasn't a course for me and my ride. Still fun trying though.
14. post some videos up with data so the rest of us chumps can figure out what we were doing wrong? 😀 Here's my 52.474... Only thing I can figure is it must have been mph thru the long slalom. A few mph difference all the way thru made a huge amount of time up.
15. Thanks for posting results so quickly!!
16. I have helped several people on here update parts on their cars and have built my car pretty much from scratch, so I'm sure I could help. I also have corner scales and the equipment to do alignments. I'm just not sure what kind of time frame you are thinking nor how to decide what is "paid fairly" as I'm not a full fledged shop with a rate schedule or anything like that. I'd be interested in talking options with you though. I'm up in N. Peoria near 67th Ave and Happy Valley if that makes a difference.
17. Hey Dave, can you please let the parties involved in this run group swap if it has or can be done please so they can plan accordingly? Thanks...
18. Hey Dave, Amanda Hitt was waitlisted when registering for Sunday but shows up on the attendee list and has group B assigned on her profile on receipt. Did she make it in Group B where she is co-driving with Mike Hitt? Thanks...
19. Brian Peters currently in 4th, Doug Rowse in 8th. Not that many runs left to go...

21. Watch several of our local fast guys try to cash in today. https://fb.watch/1uD17LZ9vU/
22. I do my own and helped helped several others here out with theirs. I have turn plates and caster camber gauges which are not totally necessary but really speed the job up. I will advise against buying the QuikTrik alignment tool set if that was a consideration as it just sucks. What Dan posted above will get the job done, anything more than that just helps do it quicker. Before I had turn plates I would put masking tape on the steering wheel next to the column and the column itself and I'd mark both with wheels straight ahead and wheels 15 degrees turn right and 15 degrees turned left. This helps with repeatability when making Caster readings and changes. I use contraptions that I bungee cord against the wheels that allow me to use the caster camber gauge and tape measures on them without removing them from the wheel. I'll try to find pictures of them in action and post them.
23. So, this is a good conversation to have and I've been thinking about it as well. To be technical, Sean's F150 shouldn't be in CAM T either. It's probably my fault as I told him to register in CAM T without really thinking about it, as it just looks like a CAM T build to me. Personally I love having all these old builds in CAM T and yes, we are all pretty competitive...that's what makes it so much fun. I also understand if others in the class do not want to race against the technically non-CAM T cars. If anyone does object, please speak up and we'll get everyone classed appropriately. To me, the beauty of the CAM classes is we really don't worry about this kind of stuff because for the most part, most of us aren't supposed to be here anyway. 🤣
24. There was 15 drivers in CAM T, I missed the novices...
25. That's the best part about CAM... None of us are really supposed to be there anyway so we aren't real hung up on the actual rules. 😉
