  1. Nankangs are about .5 to .75 second off the pace (at least in CAM cars) versus AO52's in a similar platform. PASR doesn't run summer events so your heat will be here for Sept - Oct., perhaps into Nov and typically March & April. There's always a spray tank too. If you plan on running down for Tucson events during the summer, the RT660's would be your best bet. I ran the RT660 on AS platform for about a 150-160 runs, they heat cycled out well before they lost any tread. Lets face it though - you don't have enough experience to tell the difference between AO52's, RT660's, RE71RS, or Nankangs. Anyone of these tires/manufacturers will exceed your ability at this point. Your first couple years try all different sets until you find a tire that provides you the feedback you want based on the set-up.
  2. Very enjoyable course. AS - 41.750 during competition run and 40.840 in TO. Difference being an average speed of .4mph and cutting distance. Max lateral G was 1.39. Max speed was 65.5MPH. Still need to work on getting through the slaloms efficiently.
  3. Kei “Key” Josephson is Chief of Novices. If you have a question or need help or ride-a-long for example, find a PASR member wearing one of the blue shirts with the yellow logo. Hopefully we will see you out in March.
  4. Hi John, come find anyone of the Equipment Set-Up team and we can see if it was placed in lost & found. I remember there being a whole host of items left from the January event which is all placed in the shed. Ben Z, Equipment
  5. My 47.611 run. Some obvious take-aways are my timing on slaloms is crap, late on the cones, next is the added distance right before the 120degree turn back to the NW, as well as excessive braking. Peak cornering G-force was 1.41, and peak speed was 65.7MPH. Thanks to registration, timing & scoring, and the set-up crew who put in work in the rain to ensure the event went smoothly.
  6. I would not rely on using a sanctioning body definition of autocross to argue coverage is present in a "restricted race area." Coverage is dependent upon the exclusions listed in the policy. State Farm for example specifically excludes autocrossing, road-course, HDPE, and other similar events, no matter what the sanctioning body calls it. There have been events at AMP where vehicles have crashed into and/or through the fence during autocrossing. With that said, I purchased a $330 annual policy with agreed limits specifically for autocross (no limitations on the frequency). The exclusions are limited, in short, if a vehicle suffers a physical loss/damage during an autocross event, the policy is in force, subject to maintaining the policy in good standing and the deductible. The policy was brokered through Lockton and the policy is carried by Nova Casualty Company. Lockton also offers road course coverage as well which can be added as an endorsement for a single day event. Policy was effective the same day as purchased.
  7. Struggle bus all day due to poor set-up using a combination of AO52's upfront and RT660's on the back. It was not a balanced combination by any means. The Yokes despite being at 1/32nd tread still were potent. The RT660's, despite having plenty of tread, performed poorly (as anyone who witnessed the CAM worthy 360). I can clearly see where I left an extra second or more on the table with poor execution of throughout the slalom sets. This was my fastest run at 47.4XX + 1.
  8. A shop who specializes in Circle track maybe or go to a local circle track and start asking around. Check speedway motors if they have an adapter plate. Worst case find an on the car balancer or do a static balance using a bubble balancer.
  9. Sounds exciting. I'll help in my usual capacity. I believe there may be a contractual restriction with the maximum number of persons allowed on site at any given time and why we've not hosted one previously. 200 people max rings a bell. Kim or Kevin will have better details. Farmington, NM hosted a few of these and that site is no bigger than AMP. I'm sure with careful oversight, we can limit the site to the appropriate restrictions. Ken, pick a date in 2024 and lets get the powers that be to identify and overcome obstacles to hosting a national event. Ben Z

  14. All items have been accounted for.
  15. My total sh1t show for series 1. This is an excellent video of what not to do. Everything was off, head was elsewhere, wasn’t looking ahead, didn’t identify any key cones, slalom timing was a complete disaster, too much brake in the wrong spots, wasn’t backsliding the cones, the list goes on and on. Luckily I got see and socialize with a number of people and drove a Tesla- knocking off > 2.5seconds off my fastest time in the Vette having never driven a Tesla before. Here’s the disaster;
  16. Please see Ben Zukowski (Blue C6 GrandSport) at the September 17th event to claim the following "lost" items in our equipment shed; - Bell Helmet - Water Sprayer - Cleats (poor choice of driving shoes really) - 3/8" drive rachet w/socket The items will not be present at the October event as they have been in the shed since early Spring 2022 events and the club needs the shelf space.
  17. John Sheldon at Gateway has serviced several of my vehicles and has served me well for many years. The Corvette goes to Arrowhead Cadillac should it need work beyond my capabilities.
  18. There is a large white water jug in the shed. Will hold to the 1st fall event or you can make other arrangements if you need it sooner. They are also located in the shed. May I suggest alternative driving shoes though.
  19. Despite the poorly executed maneuvering of an exceptionally fun course, I still managed to peg down a clean 44.3XX. AS, 2012 GS Vette, A052 take-offs.
  20. Forza in Tempe (he’s brash, upfront, and doesn’t like mornings, but has 30+ years working with Corvettes). He was recommended to me by Kenny Mitchell. Cordes Performance (very busy, specializes in 1/2 mile drags and high horsepower applications). Classic Gold (Joe & Mike do great work and highly recommended across local Corvette forums. They are also reasonably priced).
  21. Many tire shops are straying away from mounting tires which are not purchased through them. Discount Tire appears to be one of the last commercial shops to mount & dismount others tires. There a number of small independent tire shops which say “Llantera” and will usually mount/dismount while you wait and much cheaper than Discount, especially if you bring greenbacks. But glance at their equipment beforehand. I’m at a point of looking at FB to purchase a used mag machine and balancer. Discount charged me $148 for mounting/dismounting 2 tires and balancing four. $22/tire was the charge for just balancing. Crazy pricing.
