  1. I didn't really unlock the full potential of my car on a course that had me caught between gears in a couple of key places. Rode the limiter in second into the showcase corner and then grabbed third on the exit for the rest of the course. That left me waiting for boost exiting the SE corner hairpin, but I tried second there once, and the location of the next feature really didn't allow it to help me because of how soon I was having to grab third again before transitioning. Still a fun day of having to work things out with the reduced grip and technical course. I ran 48.5 as my best in both Comp and TO.
  2. Made some pretty big setup changes since the Nov event, and the car felt way better. Still adjusting my driving to the changes, but really happy with the additional mid-corner grip.
  3. NASA used to permit people to leave trailers on site overnight at AMP as recently as 3 years ago when I ran with them. You just had to let them know ahead of time during registration, and pay them a fee associated with them hiring an overnight security guard.
  4. For Sale - Pittsburgh / Harbor Freight 1.5 Ton Aluminum Racing Jack It's served me well for probably 10 years at this point. It's leaking a bit from the piston, but still lifts ok. I overhauled it recently, and it's potentially due to thinner oil than whatever sludge was speced in the Chinese sweatshop. Has been used for extensive work on my Miata and former 'Speed3, as well as mundane tire rotations on my heavy pig BMW 2-series and the wife's CX-5. I picked up a black Friday deal on something else, so passing this along to the community. $20, cash is king. Can deliver at December AMP event or pickup in Peoria area if you want it sooner.
  5. It looks like I was an outlier in deciding to take the left side of the finish slalom. 40.831 in Comp group D.
  6. Spent the morning working to knock the rust off after 6 months out of the hot seat. Big thanks and thumbs up to Stephen King for stopping by numerous times to chat and get me thinking critically about my driving and approach. Knocked a half second off on my last run after thinking about using the brakes better to get the car turned on entry. Comp 45.2 I saved most of my mistakes for Time Only, including a big spin at the start slalom after grabbing 3rd with a bit too much exuberance... Grip definitely felt better with the lower sun, not sure I improved my driving all that much. TO 45.0
  7. Bump Also adding old video for sound test. Not completely applicable to this part in its current configuration though. This was with the downpipe in catless setup, with stock midpipe and stock MSM muffler. Also important to note, my car passed sound at AMP with this part in a number of different configurations: Catless downpipe, stock midpipe, stock MSM muffler Downpipe with cat, stock midpipe, stock MSM muffler Downpipe with cat, stock midpipe, Roadstersport RS3 muffler
  8. For Sale: Aftermarket downpipe for Mazdaspeed Miata. This is a bit of a niche part, but I thought I'd list it here regardless in case there happens to be an interested party with one of these cars locally. With the cat installed, this part is legal for Street Touring in addition to Street Prepared (no cat required). This part would not be legal for Street category. This started out as a catless eBay downpipe that I ran for 5 years as-bought. Really helped spool and overall throttle response. I got sick of the smelly exhaust and later decided to add a cat that was professionally installed early last year. Catalytic converter is a Magnaflow spun metal cat with 2.5" inlet/outlet and 4" body; model 54956 (linky). Fits perfect in the space with the stock mid-chassis bracing, as shown in photos. It has two O2 sensor bungs, one at the rear behind the cat for the OEM rear sensor, and another one near the middle at the top for a wideband. One plug will be included (two shown here, but I need to keep one for my other downpipe). Inside diameter for the inlet and outlet are 2.25" versus 1.9" in / 2.24" out for the stock part. Overall weight of this one is 7.4 lbs with the cat vs 16.4 lbs stock. No issues with fitment, leaks, or cracks. Various gaskets are included for install, some have been used. This will only fit your car if it has an Mazdaspeed Miata midpipe or some other custom solution due to the different flange locations vs non-turbo NB Miatas. If you've somehow cobbled an MSM turbo and manifold onto your NB, this downpipe won't fit with your stock midpipe. I'm only selling this because I moved to a full RoadsterSport setup. Asking $125 Located in Peoria, AZ area for pickup
  9. Really enjoyed the course for this weekend. The minimal cone layout really made it challenging to pick up the right reference points for a few of the elements. DON'T QUIT YET, NICK!!! I ended up at 45.4, but forgot to start the camera on that run. Here's footage of a fairly ragged 45.989 instead.
  10. As a course worker, I didn't want to be standing out there for over an hour while the group went on for 6 runs of 35 cars. Since this split format with more runs has originated, I've specifically only registered for the morning group because I don't want to be baking in the heat of the afternoon on course for that long. I don't want to imagine what 75 mins on course chasing cones is like in September at 2:00PM. If you want more than 4 runs, you'll have the option to pay for it and stay all day to get them. Some people don't need 6 passes to get their time down, and they have the option to register just for comp groups. That seems like it covers all options in a reasonable fashion. I don't have a vote, but that was my $0.02 I had shared with people who are voting members over the past few months.
  11. As the course worker who recovered it... It seemed ok; the screen lit up when I picked it up off the ground. The screen protector had a small chip, but that was all I saw. I'm more curious about the circumstances of how it came to be that it flew out of the car, and what Kim had to say to them about it.
  12. Bauer Limited Extended Front Lower Ball Joint Kit for NA/NB Miata Allows additional static negative camber. New parts still sealed in the plastic bags from the manufacturer. Never installed these to my car, and they've been sitting in my garage for too long. Made a number of changes to my car over the summer that I'm still trying to dial in effectively, and don't know when I'll be ready to toss these into the mix. Detailed product information here https://bauerltd.com/extended-lower-ball-joint/ $110 picked up. Located near Cardinals Stadium.
  13. So, uhhh... what caused the fire in the trunk of the Mustang, and what should Tech be making a point of emphasis on going forward?
  14. Years ago, we used to have Photographer as an option for a work assignment. It's a decision for the managing members of the club whether they want to bring it back, but I know lots of people liked the photos. What happened to the portal where the club used to host all of those photos that were taken at events?
  15. Steal of a deal, but just in the interest of prospective buyers being aware, the lightweight flywheel (like the cylinder head swap) bumps the car to Street Prepared. Those 245s look like they squeeze under that car better than the 225s on mine. What's the wheel width/offset? Any fender work done to accomplish this?
  16. Thanks to everyone for the recommendations. But an especially big thanks to Lance for generously offering use of his scales and the overall help to get this done for me!
  17. I recently upgraded to a different set of coilovers on my car, so I need to have a corner balance done. My usual go-to for suspension stuff is Network Alignment, but the west side location doesn't do corner weights. Any recommendations? I'd prefer West Valley area, but willing to take a drive to get it done right the first time. Sidebar: I remember a number of years ago Tony S with the orange Bondurant Mustang had started a business focused around track/auto-x prep. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the business, and the old forum content has obviously evaporated into the ether with the new website. Does anybody know if his shop is still around? I recall it being in the Chandler area.
  18. 43.407 in group B with BSP Mazdaspeed Miata on 225 BFG Rival S I never really felt like I got the last corner leading into the finish offsets right. My exit was lacking regardless of my approach on entry. I never tried downshifting to 2nd, and I think that would have helped me get the car pointed on exit instead of riding the torque and riding the front end as boost and power rose with engine speed.
