  2. In my humble opinion, car balance during any given maneuver is a function of car setup + driving style + surface conditions. The actual shape of the driven line rarely impacts this, and usually only when a different line encounters different surface conditions.
  3. I've seen some smaller scale professional transporters hauling 1-3 cars on the interstate. That might be an easier option compared to finding 7-8 others willing to go in on the transporter, but I expect it is probably more expensive than the large hauler split 7-8 ways, which is itself more expensive than towing yourself out there, which is more expensive than street driving yourself out there. Cal club stopped with the transporter because too many people eventually started getting their own tow vehicles and trailers, so they couldn't find enough people to make it economical. For the recent Crows Landing Tour, I count roughly 12 drivers from AZ who towed, vs 4 who self drove, and one I'm not sure of but I think he towed.
  4. Last week
  5. I think it was either Tom Kammann or Richard Jung, and if it wasn't either of those two, they'll know who because they had there cars transported to Lincoln.
  6. In the past some people from CA and AZ would get together and hire a truck to carrier several cars both ways. I think someone from the CA region organized it, but don't remember who now.
  7. Which one do you think made more noise on throttle? The exhaust leak or this rod bearing? Both on cylinder #1.
  8. Is there a good solution available to have a car and gear shipped to Nationals? I would enjoy a flight to Lincoln so much more than days of driving there and back ........
  9. I suggest the course design created some very challenging spots that "encouraged" under-steer.😉 The last minute change to the finish added to that. It wasn't your tires, Dave......😂
  10. Here is my best TO run at 37.280 on 4/28/24. It felt very sloppy and had a lot of turn-in and mid corner understeer all day. It might have been my worn tires. I changed pressure and it helped but still had a lot of understeer. Maybe it was the lower grip in Tucson vs Phoenix and I should have softened my front bar or firmed up my rear shocks. Either way, the car did pretty good though there were plenty of spots to clean things up. From the video I can see that I am still not looking ahead enough, still late on power, not trail braking enough, not smooth enough, etc. etc. Having video with data is proving to be helpful in seeing and understanding my driving flaws. If you see anything I should take a look at or think about, please let me know as I don't know what I don't know!!
  11. Meant to avoid spam. You have to translate into the usual internet format…. i.e, use “@“ for “at”, and drop the dashes and spaces…… got it?
  12. This does not appear to be a valid email address: treasurer -at- azbrscca.org

  15. Hello, earlier this week I registered for the autocross event at Kino Stadium on Saturday, April 27th. Something has come up that prevents my participation. I have had to cancel my registration. Is it possible to get a refund or a credit for the next Saturday event?

  18. Nice, love the new format seeing all of the data. I am jealous with the 59mph. VW stops me at 55mph with their rev limiter.
  19. @herrenr The sticker on the helmet is awesome.
  20. Shoot! I was so put off by all the loose bolts on this engine, the damaged crank, and the probable need for a rebuild... I never considered that some of those loose bolts might be causing the noise I was so concerned about. Removing #1 plug wire made the noise go away. #1 exhaust manifold bolts were loose. I inspected the exh manifold gasket tonight and tada! Evidence of an exhaust leak through the gasket at #1. (The dirty-looking end of the gasket in the pic) Hopefully that was the source of the sound (probably). I wish I had put 2 & 2 together before pulling the engine. I could have listened for the leak at the manifold with a stethoscope (yeah right, garden hose!) and confirmed the source of the noise 100%. Anyway, I'll double check all the crank bolt torques, mic and plastigage everything, check the new-used crank, have it ground if necessary, and reassemble with new bearings and gaskets. I suppose I can inspect the head, pistons, and potential leftover cylinder damage too. I'm still concerned whether loose-nut-larry missed/skippedanything during his rebuild haha.
  21. To whom it may concern among the club... If y'all could take a look at my registration notes and shoot me an email - not sure how it shows up, but I register as OldGray320i (the car I believe I'll have out there, btw...). Holler
  22. Agreed... Fun & fast... and with six runs too! Big kudos to ALL the organizers, steering committe & volunteers, what a great way to end the season!
