  1. When we get back to having Time Onlys (extra non-counting runs for practice), enter and have one of the better drivers drive your car on a run with you in it. Enter a Test and Tune event, and buddy up with one of the local fast drivers. Finally, ask to ride with a faster driver in their car as a passenger, if there’s a time that’s OK. All of the above will help you develop a feel for what a faster corner entry feels like. Kind of a sense of “motor memory”.......sensory in nature.
  2. On Classing, no. You would be DSP Novice, DSP Open, or DSP Sportsman. And you do not HAVE TO run as a Novice. If you are inexperienced you could choose that option. You can't do STH (catch-all), as it's a two-seater. On DSP, seems you are spot-on........from the Solo Rules for DSP:

  12. Nationally, yes, that is the rule. Always has been. Locally, we can make reasonable adjustments. I'd just go with H Street and enjoy the ride. Neat car. I'd bet a little heavy?

  16. OK, here’s more context for you, as you learn the nuances of SCCA Classing.... Note that Street Classes (i.e., Stock) allow a cat-back exhaust. So only your rear spoiler is technically illegal for Street. Do you like it that much? 😉 Your Street Class is A Street BTW. If you decide to keep it, then you’re “not Street”. On to the modified options. Note that the Street Prepared Classes also allow the racing “R” tires, in addition to MANY other allowed modifications. Many. SSP is the correct choice there. But, as Jeff suggests, SCCA has added some new options, XSA and XSB. They too allow MANY performance options, but limit the cars to Street “200” treadwear tires. So, you have some decisions to ponder. If you’re out just for having fun with your car, and don't really care about placing well in Class, and just want to play with your car, one of the XS Classes (read those rules for which) is a better choice for you.. But if you’re planning on developing your car to be competitive in a chosen Class, the Street classes are the least expensive pathway by a bunch. Download a copy of the SCCA Solo Rules, and start reading about which options are allowed in each Class. Adding just a spoiler then also allows (requires?) you to add things like suspension, headers, sway bars, intakes, tunes, wider wheels and more. Hope this helps.

  18. Yeah, so maybe more than a year old, huh? In any case, it does a pretty good job showing how allowances fall for those Classes shown. Gives a *visual* example of how SCCA Classing tends to operate. Like “Miata”, the answer to SCCA rules questions is always......”Read the Rulebook”. (All 500 pages......).😂 **if someone with a good knowledge of SCCA Classing were of a mind to, they could add on to this and update with Cam and XS examples.

It exists only for what is scheduled, not for thoughts about what might be, or even any questions about any of those events. I want this Thread to stay focused. On point. Please start discussions such as yours in the appropriate area; in your case, please delete this from the dates thread, and start a new one in the AZSolo arena. What you ask for is within the domain of the AZSolo Webmaster, not me. Thank you.
  21. The current Steering Committee of AZSolo does not favor summer events anywhere, so no. Both Tucson and Sierra Vista typically hold summer events.
  22. Sorry, Wiggy, no can do. I do provide the calendar dates and what Club to contact for all necessary information relative to the events. You have to go to each Club’s Website for that info. BUT....... I do receive email reminders from at least from Tucson and Sierra Vista that their registration is opening, and perhaps from Motorsports Reg too for AZSolo. Maybe even PCA on MSR. I can’t recall for sure. I can share with everyone that if you go to the Tucson/SV registration page (used to be called Mind The Cones) they show when registration opens for each Club. I know that MSR does too. Those are pretty good reminders......Would you believe I then put those registration opens alerts on my computer calendar with automatic alerts?😉😎👍 Yeah. I’m that much of a Solo addict...... sad, isn’t it.🤦‍♂️
  23. There is nothing “official” about this thread. I started it to help promote participation in Solo programs across all Clubs that accept entries from all cars and marques. So, I only produce and maintain the “summary” small calendar posted here, with information provided by all local/statewide Clubs on the websites and associated calendars. I got the AZSolo dates from the AMP calendar, as well as the PCA dates. Tucson and Sierra Vista dates I get from their websites when posted. I also post any known upcoming dates for only SV and Tucson on the Forums Calendar, as another more visible way to help others know about these events. I do NOT post the AZSolo dates there or on the AZSolo Website. Dave Hurt does those, as official Club functions.
  24. This is exactly how many of us older folks (much younger like you, then) got started many years ago. Family participation. The Club at that time encouraged more social activities, and many of us encouraged our spouses or significant others to participate/drive with the guys. The Club even held for years a ”Bonnie and Clyde Special Competition” for the many couples we had. Combined times for guy and gal was your score. So, y’all, keep bringing the womenfolk out, get them to try driving. Focus on the fun and camaraderie, and don’t focus as much on just serious competition. That’s not for everyone. Ask my wife.😉
