Huge thanks to everyone for dealing with a somewhat challenging day with grace and kindness, all the Chiefs rocked it and all the drivers/workers did their part as well to put on a great day of racing!! Here's my 44.747, 3rd run Group B still pretty damp. Super fun course...8 points

Hey Everyone, Judah was working hard this week on pics at the track. We have a few thousand pics to go through and scrub the blurry stuff out of. Hopefully, by the end of the week, I'll post up a Dropbox link. Some track and pit shots are to be included. The sunrise colors on Sunday were pretty spectacular. Here are a few he got of my car. Judah is getting better and even had his first paid photo shoot recently. The roller was from that shoot. He is working on saving for more photo gear and is willing to do a shoot for $50 if anyone is interested.8 points

Here is my best TO run of 42.630. This is my first time with SoloStorm, data, and usable video. It is a little eye-opening. I make a lot more errors than I thought.7 points

Haven’t gotten around to day 1 video yet but here’s my best run from day 2:6 points

I'm starting to get a handle on my new GoPro Hero 10, the over exposure issue is fixed. Still can't seem to get my tablet to overlay my Solostorm data on the videos from the new camera though. That said, here was my first run of the day Sunday which was also my fastest with a 49.423. LOVE the new Bridgestone RE71RSs...this car hasn't driven like this in over 3 years. Now I just have to get back to trusting it once again to not push.6 points

Great Event as always, aside from the temps. Whew. The boys and I did get a few good pictures, some track pics, and some of the event. I decided to include all the pics this time, even some from the neighboring motorcycle event. We were testing out a new prime lens on the Sony so some of the shots are zoomed out pretty far. I'm asking the same thing as last time. If you like a pic head over to my Youtube channel and like a video as a thanks. @DrivingForwardBuilds 10/15/23 Event Photos Here was one of the good ones.6 points

We were out taking a bunch of pictures at the event. We don't know what we're doing but trying as part of our Homeschool routine. We wound up with a few good shots from each run group A-D and a few shots around the paddock. Feel free to download and use them as you wish. All I ask is if you like a pic hit my YouTube channel and drop a "like" on any video, it really helps. If you're feeling especially kind, a comment is awesome too. @DrivingForwardBuilds I should have my run video out this week sometime as well. If you don't see any of your car in the pictures, let me know. We have 725 we took! This folder is just the ones we thought turned out ok. My Boys wound up taking most of them. 🙂 This was one of our favorite shots by my older son, JJ. Link to Pictures...6 points

Pretty fun course all in all. fast, challenging. everything anyone could want. here i got my 43.707 on GoPro and recorded from Grid. felt good about the run and paid off, taking CAM-C for the day(And the season) by a comfortable margin.5 points

Camera wasn’t working right with TrackAddict and proceeded to not get my fast run but this was my second fastest run. Overall the best day I’ve had since getting the Type R April Autocross Event 4.14.24 https://youtu.be/iyQJpCTUNxQ5 points

Here's my 44.434 on my last of 6 tries...this run jumped me from 8th in class to 3rd. Definitely struggled staying off the cones and taking the favored line. It seemed like there wasn't a lot of places to make up time on this course, just plenty of places to loose time. Still a super fun day and a great way to cap off a great season. See y'all in the fall.5 points

I may have a solution if anyone is interested! So I recently purchased tire equipment (Mounter and Balancer). I am out in Gilbert if anyone wants to bring some work by. $50+a six pack of your choosing that you have to help me drink! Couple rules though... This is just me at home. I have done my wheels without scratches many times but I cant warranty anything so if you are scared of scratches or scuffs, probably best to continue using your existing shop. TPMS... I would prefer to do wheels without these just for the risk of breaking them. I have successfully mounted with sensors several times, but once again, this is just an at home thing. Lastly, if I cant get a bead to seat or a tire mounted or whatever, no charge, I'll give everything back except the drinks that have been drank. Feel free to shoot me a message here or a txt - 615-504-2538 -Hayden5 points

I think Ben's reply comes from a long grueling weekend of a handful of volunteers busting their arse to make sure the rest of us have a good time. Many MANY of us went above and beyond this weekend and overall there was a great result behind it. Don't let that hide that fact that we are tired and we have yet another event to put on in very short order this Friday. If we do not get more volunteers to step up, you are going to see some of the regular VOLUNTEERS drop...then instead of worrying about details like above, you'll be worrying about who is going to get everyone registered, teched, waivered, gridded, started, not too mention having a course to run on at all. One does not need experience to volunteer, one just needs a willingness. We'll teach you the rest. Thanks, Lance5 points

Almost every other region and club in the country requires numbers. Static cling, magnet, vinyl, painter's tape, paper. This isn't some unreasonable requirement. Also to your other point about numbers being hard to read from the tent... that's not the point. The point is for corner radio workers to be able to see the number and call the cone by number rather than "gray miata - no the other gray miata".5 points

Thought I would upload some favorites from the event. Had some camera issues due to not having used my old DSLR in 12 years... big surprise. Hope you like these... had to shrink the size due to my poor data connection upload speeds. Will try again today on Day2... hope camera (&me) operate correctly LOL.4 points

What an interesting course this was. I was totally expecting to run much slower but much to my surprise it was such a fast course. Thanks again to the team that makes this possible. We were taking pictures again and working on technique. The sun was sure making it difficult though. Shooting pictures from the outside of the track is limited as well, those darn bushes are too tall around the fence. You'll see when Judah (my 12-year-old son) was shooting some of them the fence made it into the foreground. He is trying to start a YouTube channel and would appreciate it if you like the pictures to hit the "like button" on some of his videos to show your support! He started a tech/editing/photography channel as part of his homeschool extracurricular activities. Check him out at https://www.youtube.com/@JWolfTechTV Here are the pictures. We didn't get any of run group C or time only. Here is my best run of the day.4 points

My 2nd best in the STR ND at 45.9. In both my cars, this felt like 4 decreasing radius corners and 4 drag strips. Flat in everything, trail brake to turn around. Drove the Lotus (time only) and the Miata. Same same.4 points

Disagree with this not being feasible for a local region. San Diego region had a successful system for this where you registered your regional competition number annually (with a fee to have your Solo Card and ownership of that number). The SCCA magazine (which we should all be receiving with our memberships) has advertisements in the back for multiple vendors supplying numbers that fill this need. If people are spending $1000/year on tires, it's not a huge ask to improve the running of the event to have somebody spend $60 on numbers. Roll the annual number registration in with annual tech. For newer entrants, temporary 4 digit numbers were assigned and the paper + painters tape method was required. Eventually, they decide that they want to "look the part" at the events and buy numbers as well. This seems to come up every few years, and I haven't understood the pushback to improvement, other than just being resistant to change.4 points

For a while registration assigned "Corner Captains" who were more experienced racers and were in charge of the radio and cone calls for each station per run Group as a way to clean up the radio chatter and more accurately report cone calls. I personally liked the idea but there was pushback so eventually we stopped that practice. Maybe time to rethink that? We've also extensively discussed going to large #s on cars in the past and once the details of what all would have to be changed with our systems to accomplish this, the decision was made by the steering committee to not go that direction. One may think it is simple fix for one issue, but in reality it changes just about everything we do with our registration and timing & scoring systems and then on top of that requires everyone to now put tape or magnetic #s on their cars every event...correctly. In my opinion, the current system works very well for us. We just need to be better and course work, clean up the radio chatter and remind people to stay away from timing and scoring area.4 points

My BRZ is now home from the body shop with only minor paint imperfections, missing rocker guard texture on the underside of the right fender and a slightly different right mirror lens the only indications it was in a crash. Just need the inspection to clear in 2 and a half weeks and I’ll be on a restored title and back out in September! Can’t recommend the body shop I used, ACRS, enough for work that’s cheaper than a dealer, still looks good and one of the few places that’ll work with a salvage title. The crashed pic is before, and the other one is after.4 points
