New Site Addition: Kino Sports Complex! Big Open Asphalt Parking Lot

Coming this Fall we are adding a second site to our mix.  There is a large freshly Paved Parking Lot at the Kino Sports Complex.  We have secured the following dates:

10/23/22

11/20/22

12/18/22

and are working to continue with additional dates in 2023 as well!

So for those of you missing a large open parking lot we have you covered again!  This site is costing the club a fair amount more than Musselman, so please help get the word out and come check out our new venue this Fall.

Size wise, how does it compare to Marana?

Been quite a while since I've been down there, a lot of the area open enough for course layout was dirt.

Did they finally pave all of it?

For 2022 no, we got everything we could ti finish the year, but in March next year looks like we *should (pending confirmation close tot eh end of the year)* be able to have a Saturday/two days of awesome event

Would the new lot be this one on extreme southeast side of the complex?

It is the lots to the west of that.  Google maps does not show them as re-paved, but they are all new pavement.

What are the various start and site open times for the Kino Sport Complex event? The website shows the gate open time at 8:30 and the driver's meeting almost noon.

My guess is that the times showing at this moment are still for Musselman. Hoping they change for the new site. 8:30 seems a little late to open gates in any case.

Scott correct, 8:30 is the Musselman Start time for the winter (that surface needs more sun time to heat up)  we will be starting earlier at Kino, **most likely** the gates will open at 7:30 at Kino.

The website isn't currently structured to show start time based on a combination of site location AND season. It's not a hard change to make, but the easier change is to just edit the fall start times after this next event, and we recently lost our webmaster.

Please have some patience, the website will be updated in time for the Kino event.

Glenda and I are curious about your run/work order plans for this site. Marana is but a distant memory at this point. With Musselman the site pretty much mandated staying the whole day, even if you didn’t do Time Onlys. Long days for travelers.

So at Kino will we be able to register to run A and then work C (or vice-versa?), and then leave if we’re not doing TO’s? Similar to Phoenix? Running A and Working B even better for out-of-towners 😉😉😉.

Please share your plan. Since Phoenix and Tucson are Saturday/Sunday the same weekend, decisions and plans need to be made.

Updated Kino Event Details:

Gates and Registration will open at 7:30 AM, (we are going to maintain the Mussleman registration check in as you get into the parking lot, with a controlled single point entry to paddock.)

Work/Run Order:

A for B,  B for A  

- A and B will be competition runs ONLY

C for D,  D for C

- C and D will be time only runs only

This is a great plan for those not needing TO’s. Able to run, work, go home. Don’t have to stay. longer. If wanting TO’s, stay longer for second run/work.👌
